  1. Lay the bodice wrong side up. Place the inner waistband along the waistband seam, right side facing the wrong side of the bodice. Pin in place, matching notches.

Attaching Waistband to Skirt

  1. Join the waistband to the skirt. Place the right side of the waistband against the wrong side of the skirt (as shown in the photo). Pin in place. Machine stitch along the marked line, using backstitches at the beginning and end of the seam. Press. Unfold the waistband and skirt. Press the seam allowance toward the waistband, neatly tucking it between the top and bottom layers of the waistband.

Attaching the Waistband

  1. Fold the waistband in half with the wrong sides together. Pin the waistband to the top’s waist edge, matching the notches and aligning the waistband seam with the side seam. Make sure the opening for threading the elastic will end up on the inside of the top when finished. Attach the waistband using an overlock machine, stitching along the waistband side. Press the seam, then press the seam allowances up toward the top.
