  1. Pair up front and back waistband pieces right sides facing, align one short edge, and sew with a 1 cm seam allowance. Trim the allowance to 0.7 cm and press open.

Sewing Inner Waistband

  1. Sew along the existing waistband seam. Trim allowances to 0.7 cm, press, and press the allowances up toward the top edge of the waistband.

  1. On one waistband piece (inner waistband), fold 0.8 cm of the lower seam allowance to the wrong side and press in place.

Preparing the Waistband

  1. Mark the upper edge of the waistband with a hand stitch. Fold the waistband in half along the marked line, wrong sides together. Press. Along one long edge, press a 1 cm allowance to the wrong side. Then, fold the waistband in half right sides together along the short edges (as shown in the photo); unfold the previously pressed allowance on the long edge. Pin and machine stitch with a 1 cm seam allowance, using backstitches. Start and end the stitching at the fold line of the allowance.

Marking Attachment Line

  1. Mark the waistband attachment line with a fine line. The marking should run exactly along the pressed seam allowance.
