Securing waistband elastic
Stitching a line through the middle of the waistband while stretching the elastic to prevent it from twisting.
Where it is used
Waistband - Sewing Edges
p. 18- Sew the edges of the waistband pieces. Allowance is 1.0 cm.
Waistband - Pressing Seams
p. 18- Press open the seam allowances of the waistband stitching.
Belt - Stitching
p. 19- Stitch the waistband, leaving a 3.0 cm opening for turning. Allow a 0.7 cm seam.
Belt - Pinning Lengthwise
p. 19- Pin the edges of the belt together along the length, with the right sides facing inward.
Waistband - Closing Opening
p. 20- Sew the remaining opening in the waistband with invisible stitches.
Step 13: Close waistband hole
p. 7- Hand-sew the small hole in the waistband.
Step 12: Sew elastic ends
p. 7- Sew the ends of the elastic overlapping by 1.0 cm. Make sure the elastic doesn't twist!
Step 11: Insert elastic into waistband
p. 7- Insert elastic into the waistband, ensuring the elastic matches the waist measurement.
Step 10: Press waistband allowance
p. 7- Press the seam allowance of the waistband down onto the pants.
Step 14: Secure waistband elastic
p. 8- Mark and stitch a securing line in the middle of the waistband to prevent the elastic from twisting, stretching the elastic inside the waistband.
