Basting

Temporary stitching used to hold fabric layers together before permanent sewing, often removed after the final seam is sewn. A temporary, long stitch used to hold fabric in place before sewing the permanent seam. (merged) Aliases: basting stitch.

Baste Armhole Binding

If you’re comfortable with sewing, you can skip the basting and attach the bias tape directly, stretching it as you sew. If you’re just getting started with sewing, it’s best to baste the bias tape first, stretching it evenly between the guide points.

Baste the pressed edge of the binding, folding the attached binding over to the wrong side of the front and back pieces.

Baste Plackets

Baste the inner sides of the plackets. Make the hand stitching from the right side, landing the needle in the ditch of the placket attachment seam, and from the wrong side, catching the free edge of the placket at a distance of 0.7 cm from the edge (along the edge of the overlock stitching).

Remove Basting

Remove the basting stitches. Press lightly.

Basting Binding

Baste the pressed edge, positioning it so that it covers the seam line by 0.1 cm. Tuck the end of the tie inside the edge.

Basting Waist Edges

Re-pin and start basting all three raw edges of the waist together. The jumpsuit trousers are located between the bodice and the bodice lining layers. Stitch on the sewing machine.
