Preparing the Upper Front Section

  1. Finish the neckline and armhole of the front bodice using the lining. Place the right side of the lining against the right side of the front upper piece. Align the edges, secure them with pins, and stitch along the seam line, keeping a 7 mm distance from the edge.

  1. To prevent a visible step where the straps are attached, tuck the seam allowances of the armhole and neckline into the lining (carefully fold the straps inside along with the allowances). Secure with a backstitch.

Preparing the Upper Front Section

  1. Gather the bottom edge of the front upper piece. Between the two marks that show where to start and end the gathering, sew two rows of long, loose stitches, about 7 mm and 13 mm from the edge. Leave the thread ends loose. Pull gently on the lower threads to gather the fabric to match the pattern size. Spread the gathers evenly.

Joining the Upper and Lower Front Pieces

  1. On the inside of the lower front piece, mark the corner where the seam will go. Take one prepared upper front piece and place it right sides together with the lower piece. Align the neckline facing seam with your marking. Match the notches along the edges of both the upper and lower front pieces. Smooth out the edges, pin them securely in place, and sew from the side seam to the marked corner. Remember to reinforce the seam by backstitching securely.

Sew the side seams

  1. Lay the back piece on the table with the right side facing up. Lift the back lining. Place the front piece on top, right side down. Match the armhole binding seam on the front to the neckline binding seam on the back. Align the spots where the upper and lower sections of the front and back are stitched together. Line up the markings on the side seams of both pieces and make sure the edges are even. Pin everything in place and baste.
